Cop Underdog

This 250 square feet space, a retail store located in the posh locality of Vittal Mallya road in the central part of Bengaluru was an existing building which used to house a café. We were tasked to design a modern chic store for premium sneakers and execute it within a short 30-day timeline. The Client, a college student and a sneaker-head, intended to open a store for enthusiasts and it be situated in the heart of the city.

Having got a request for proposal with a brief that this store would have to showcase some of their premium sneaker collection along with some limited-edition pieces, this freedom to propose a concept got us down to putting together an eclectic yet monochrome look to the space because the plan was to highlight their designer shoes with a varied color palette and design.

The first step was to plan the fi􀆩ed cabinetry & display ledges, to initiate the order for the custom-made furniture. Minor modifications in the ceiling were made then to accommodate the requisite lighting.

The entire store, the walls and ceiling were finished in a metallic faux texture with the flooring being a transition between black carpet and black-white tiles creating a checkered pattern. The design also included a display space to showcase their limited apparel which was catered to by an arched panel on the wall which was backlit and had just one display hanging space within the arch to make it look different from the sneaker display design.

The Front Façade of the store is an eye-catching design with ACP sheets finished in matte black placed at different depths to create a three-dimensional design with concealed lighting. The glass facade allows for the collection to be clearly visible to passersby on the street.
